19/21 Chorley Road: Then and Now

The photo shows Hannah Mitchell's store at 21 Chorley Road, Adlington c1920. (The numbers have been changed since and this is modern day 19 Chorley Road). (Elizabeth) Hannah Mitchell was the daughter Charles Mitchell, the landlord of the Cardwell Arms for over fourty years. She married Walter Berry, son of John Berry who owned the Yew Tree Inn, Heath Charnock in 1905. In the 1911 census, Hannah and Walter were already living at 21 Chorley Road.

Here is a another photo of the same property a little later on in about 1930.
